Now resident in US and working in California, John started at Merton Park Studios, Wimbledon as a camera case cleaner/ mail boy.
He later became camera assistant to Jimmy Wilson on Jack Greenwood`s detective series; the Operator on which was the wonderful Peter Allwork. Peter and John then teamed up for the seven years doing many movies together including the first re make of Olivier`s `Macbeth` photographed by Geoff Unsworth and `Georgy Girl` photographed by Ken Higgins.
John became an operator in the mid seventies and thus ended the wonderful years he had so enjoyed with Peter Allwork, to whom to this day he says he owes so much.
The next few years he operated for Alan Parker on such movies as `Midnight Express` and `Pink Floyd The Wall`; to name but two of this prolific director`s credits.
Moving on was a hard decision for him to make but he did and photographed his first movie in 1983 for Elliot Kastner. The movie was called `Oxford Blues` and John photographed the screen test of the then, very young, Rob Lowe. Following this he continued on and photographed a number of action movies including `Rambo III`. His last involvement with movies was completion photography on `Sweet Home Alabama` following which he went on to photograph commercials in California to allow himself time to spend time with his dear wife and family.
